Carla Roome, Catering Assistant recently completed her Commis Chef apprenticeship and passed with Distinction. The hospital would like to say a big congratulations for all her hard work and commitment to this training!
When asked about the apprenticeship Carla said:
“Throughout the apprenticeship I learnt a lot about the variety of products available in different food categories and their nutritional values. Food allergens was a significant unit to learn with the Catering Team, revamping and updating ours to reflect the changes in law.
“I thoroughly enjoyed the learning process with all the hands-on activities and having taster sessions. I would like to say thank you to Benenden Hospital for giving me this opportunity and also a huge thank you to the Catering Team and managers for their continued support, motivation and believing in me.”
Donna Avery, Catering Manager said of her achievement:
“Many congratulations to Carla, she had a few challenges along the way; the assessors misplaced some pieces of her work and the training consultant changed four times in 6 months. Carla also had to complete some of her modules by phone and Zoom, including her culinary challenge.”
