Phase Two of Benenden Hospital’s multi-million pound redevelopment is now open to patients.
The second phase of works included a new spacious atrium, a new outpatient area, new consulting rooms, new CT, MRI and diagnostic imaging facilities, a new physiotherapy suite and a new café. There is also a new pharmacy within the new main hospital building as well as better car parking. A new eye unit opens within the main Hospital building at the end of October.
The new atrium includes a large relaxation area for patients, visitors and staff, with comfortable seating. It also includes 15 LG television screens which are being used to display high definition images of the surrounding flora and fauna to give a “window” to the outside. The screens will also be a “digital museum” showing medical instruments and other items from the Hospital’s 110 year history.
Phase One of the redevelopment included three new state-of-the-art theatres, a new Ambulatory Care Unit and new single patient rooms.
Hospital Director Jane Abbott said: “I am delighted that we will be able to offer our patients outstanding facilities to give them a first class experience in all stages of their journey through the Hospital.”
An official opening of the redeveloped Hospital is planned for early next year.
