Benenden Hospital is working with the European School of Physiotherapy in Amsterdam to offer work experience to students.
Last year the Hospital welcomed student Jordan Dehara, who was studying in Amsterdam, but was originally from Ashford in Kent. This Spring Monica Iulisca, a Romanian student at the university in Amsterdam, joined the Hospital’s Physiotherapy Department for nearly three months. After Monica’s departure the Hospital will play host to a third student from the school.
Monica, aged 33, is due to complete her course this summer and then hopes to find a physiotherapy job in Italy where her parents live.
She is keen to work with either orthopaedic or neurological patients. Before retraining as a physiotherapist Monica had studied languages and did office work.
She said: “I wanted to do something more active and wanted to work with people. The physiotherapist here have been really helpful and I’m really enjoying my time here at Benenden Hospital working with the physiotherapists in the Hospital and the Outpatient Department.”
