A two day Sock it to Sepsis event took place at Benenden Hospital in December.
Staff wore the campaign’s red and white socks for the event and held cake and biscuit sales to raise funds and awareness.
Sepsis arises when the body’s response to an infection damages its own tissues and organs. It can lead to shock, multiple organ failure and death, especially if not recognised early and treated promptly. Sepsis kills more than 37,000 people in the UK every year and is the acute bodily reaction to infection.
The Hospital activities were organised by Lesley Higham, the Hospital’s Sepsis Lead.
