Benenden Hospital’s Eye Unit and Infection Control team have both been shortlisted as finalists in prestigious healthcare awards.
The private hospital’s Eye Unit was successfully nominated for the Nursing Practice category of the Laing Buisson Awards for its work in pre and post-operative care.
A You Tube video featuring hospital staff was produced, giving patients information before and after cataract surgery.
The infection control team was shortlisted for the Healthcare Outcomes category for cutting the hospital’s infection rate from 1 to 0.7%, compared with the national average of 6.4%, with no cases of MRSA.
Benenden Hospital Director of Patient Services Claire Harley said: “This is the third time we have been recognised as finalists in these awards and I am delighted that the hard work and innovation of staff is being recognised at a national level.”
Last year, Benenden Hospital won the Patient Experience Class for Best Internal Environment at the Building Better Healthcare Awards following a multi-million pound re-development.
The winner of the Laing Buisson Awards will be announced at a ceremony at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London, on November 13.
