With over fifteen years of experience, my values are inspired by an ethos which focuses on safety and empowering the individual through excellent surgical results. My strong reputation is built on empathy and supporting patients on their journey to physical and psychological wellbeing.
I am a full member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), and an International Fellow of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). I am also on the GMC’s Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery. These organisations only accept members who are fully trained in plastic surgery and as such promote reliability and patient safety.
I graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine at St Mary’s Hospital, London. I was appointed to the London Higher Surgical Training scheme in plastic surgery and completed my training with specialist fellowships in cosmetic surgery and in cancer reconstruction & microsurgery. My NHS practice is based at Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, and I consult and operate at hospitals in Kent.
I have published widely on Plastic Surgery in British and international journals and also authored numerous book chapters, and been invited to speak at national and international plastic surgery meetings.
My name is Simon Mackey and I'm a Consultant Plastic. Reconstructive and Cosmetic surgeon practicing at Benenden Hospital. So within plastic surgery I specialise in cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery, but also other body contouring procedures including abdominoplasty, arm lifts, thigh lifts and skin surgery.
I trained in medicine at St Mary's Hospital medical school, which is now Imperial School of medicine. I undertook my basic surgical training in the Oxford deanery and then completed my plastic surgical training on the pan-Thames scheme. During this time I undertook specialist cosmetic surgery and reconstructive plastic surgery fellowships.
I'm a member of the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic surgeons, I'm a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and I'm also an associate member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. So I've very much enjoyed working at Benenden Hospital. It's a friendly and efficient unit and the team work together very well and hopefully as a result of all of that you have a an enjoyable patient experience here.
I think it's very important to treat all of my patients as individuals. I will work very hard with you to try and understand your concerns. I will then try to present you with the range of different options that you may wish to consider and then help you to come to the best decision for you. I think I'd like to treat all of my patients as I would like to be treated myself.
