About Mr Aboshiha
I studied medicine at Cambridge University and moved to London to continue my training, followed by a period working as a neurosurgeon in Sydney, Australia.
Upon my return to England, I trained as an ophthalmic surgeon at the world-famous Moorfields Eye Hospital where I was based for nearly ten years, undertaking the additional scientific research work that led to the award of my PhD.
Having completed my ophthalmic surgical training and awarded accelerated training by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists as a trainee who had performed exceptionally, I undertook a further two years of Corneal Fellowship sub-specialist training at Moorfields, working as an NHS consultant prior to joining the Ophthalmic team at Benenden Hospital as a consultant.
I have an exceptional academic and research background, with extensive publications in numerous prestigious international peer-reviewed scientific journals with national and international prizes awarded for my work. I hold a research position at University College London's Institute of Ophthalmology and have achieved a large number of additional postgraduate qualifications in my specialty, including a Distinction in my Postgraduate Diploma in Cataract & Refractive Surgery.
I am a highly experienced, caring and diligent ophthalmic surgeon - an expert in my field I have completed over 4,000 eye surgery procedures, with a surgical complication rate consistently lower than the national average.
