After graduating in 2005 from the Benha Faculty of Medicine in Egypt with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery, I furthered my studies and went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and in 2015, achieved my Doctorate degree too. More recently, I participated in the Harvard Medical School Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program in Boston, Massachusetts.
I have had a Membership with the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (MRCOG) since May 2014 and I became a member of the Medical Indemnity (MDDUS) in 2017.
In April 2016, I was awarded Best Young Research in the 12th annual conference of Benha Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, April 2016. The first-place prize awarded by Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, Benha University, Faculty of Medicine. The prize was based on the oral presentation, protocol and study design of the research project.
My name is Ahmed Khalil. I'm a Consultant of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. I have a special interest in preterm delivery and foetal medicine. But I also do a wide range of gynaecology, including menstrual irregularities, hormone replacement therapy for menopause, and laparoscopic surgeries.
I graduated from Egypt and I've done most of my training in Egypt. I've got a Master's degree and a doctorate degree from there. Then I came here to the UK as part of the MTI. I finished the training here also and became a consultant. During that time, I've also done a degree from Harvard Medical School and I'm a Harvard Medical School alumnus. I'm a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians. And now I'm an MTI officer in the Royal College.
I also have a lot of experience with teaching. I teach medical students for Kings and the Kent and Medway school. I've always had an interest in women's health and I wanted to have an impact on their lives. Childbirth is a monumental moment in one's life and to be able to share this moment with the family and care for the baby during the pregnancy and then after is very exceptional. And then after that, it's good to have the continuity of care, to care for the woman before and after getting pregnant - so up to the menopause. So, you feel that you are there throughout their whole life.
I always like the holistic approach with patient care. It's very important to educate the patient and I share with them my thought process. So we are there, this is the problem, these are the possible solutions. We are discussing these cares together. It's very important to educate, have a look. Every patient is unique and different and everyone has different circumstances. So you have to put all this into consideration to get the best outcome.
I like the Institute and the state-of-the-art infrastructure. I had one patient come and say, "I'm not scared of the hospital. This doesn't have the hospital smell." It's a very fancy, very nice place, and you have all the facilities, you have a very good team. Everyone is coming for the same reason: to give the best care for the patient.
I'm very passionate about football and major events. So I volunteered a lot in major events. I've been sharing in the volunteering in the Olympics and in the World Cup. I've been a couple of times also. I volunteer with my kids in health care projects back in Egypt, in Africa. Again, we were part of the polio vaccination in Africa. So I have that. But travelling, I enjoy travelling, enjoy knowing different cultures and trying their food.
