About Dr Neil Barlow
I graduated with a Medical degree (MBChB) from Glasgow and worked in and around Glasgow and the West of Scotland for five years in surgical specialties. This included a year of Thoracic surgery and a year of orthopaedic and trauma surgery finishing in a six month Trauma Orthopaedic fellowship 2004 at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
I completed my Radiology training in the Glasgow West of Scotland Deanery in 2009. My areas of interest were cross sectional imaging, MRI and Interventional radiology.
My Consultant Radiologist career started in East Sussex Healthcare NHS trust, based at Eastbourne District General Hospital and covering emergency care across East Sussex.
I expanded the CT portfolio of Eastbourne to include vascular imaging of the lower limbs, haemorrhage diagnostics and support the cardiac CT service. I undertake all of the CT guided biopsies at EDGH and over half of all lung biopsies for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.
I set up the MRI Small Bowel service to support inflammatory bowel disease diagnostics and disease monitoring, to reduce the radiation exposure for these patients.
I am a member of the following professional bodies:
- Royal College of Radiologists
- British Medical Association
- British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging
