About Dr Shan
I graduated with Bachelor of Medicine degree from Southampton University in 2005. Prior to this I completed my intercalated Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical sciences in 2004. I completed my postgraduate GP training with the Oxford Deanery in the Windsor Vocational training scheme in 2011.
I have published papers and presented at the European Respiratory Congress. My research was part of a European wide study in the environmental impacts of pollutants on respiratory health. I was awarded the annual first prize for European Young Investigator of the Year and presented my work to international audience.
I subsequently moved to Kent with my family in 2015. I have three young boys who keep me always challenged.
In addition to providing GP services at Benenden Hospital since 2018, I work in the NHS as the Senior Partner at Old School Surgery in West Kent.
I believe strongly we should educate future generations, and I train both staff and students in my role as a clinical supervisor for Kent and Medway Medical students including specialist nurses, clinical pharmacists and paramedics.
The early part of my career was spent as a specialist in Emergency Medicine, and I am equipped with a broad knowledge and experience in all specialities working in the NHS for the past 19 years.
During my career I have developed a special interest and expertise in Women’s Health. I am a member of the British Society of Menopause and have attended the Annual Women’s symposium.
I enjoy taking a holistic approach, and I am passionate in helping women with their health journey including conditions such as premenstrual disorders, contraceptive counselling, reproductive care to menopause care.
