We are currently looking to recruit a Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) in our Outpatients department. You will provide high standards of care to our patients and their relatives/carers, during their visit to the department. The successful candidates will join an experienced and friendly team, the position is full time.

About the role
You will undertake a wide range of routine work procedures and practices under the supervision of senior staff and accurately update patient information on the IT Systems. The department is very busy, and no two days are the same.
As our patient-centered HCSW, you will deliver care whilst undertaking tasks such as setting up equipment and meeting/greeting patients and escorting patients to the appropriate clinic.
Under the direct supervision of senior medical staff, other tasks may include taking blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, height, weight and BMI calculations and MRSA screening. It will be vital to maintain accurate records of observation and have an understanding of the proper storage of medical gases within the department.
You will act as the patient’s advocate, always maintaining their dignity. You will advise them of any relevant information.
Using your competent IT skills you will accurately update patient information on our IT system.
Skills and experience required
- be educated to GCSE level or equivalent experience
- have a relevant professional qualification i.e. NVQ Level III in Health & Social Care (or other health-related qualification). Or have a willingness to undertake
- have basic life support training, or have a willingness to undertake
- have basic phlebotomy and ECG monitoring experience or a willingness to undertake training
- demonstrate excellent written skills
- have an ability to undertaken multiple task simultaneously
- demonstrate tact and diplomacy / effective communication
- be methodical in approach and pays attention to detail
- have a strong patient-centered approach
- demonstrate good IT skills
