We are currently recruiting for a skilled mechanical technician, to join our friendly Estates team. Reporting to the Estates & Grounds Manager, you will carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance and projects across the Hospital. Working cross-discipline within the Estates Maintenance Team as required by the Business.
The 30 hours a week will be worked across 4 days with the non working day being a Wednesday or a Friday. The role would suit someone who enjoys being part of a dynamic and hard working team who has a real can do attitude.

About the role
- Carry out maintenance tasks as required for mechanical works, but not limited to this discipline, within the Department
- Ensure that the Estates & Facilities services are delivered to high quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements
- Apply the technical application of skills to assist in the maintenance tasks
- Follow all National and local Health & Safety guidance and policies, procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work as published and fully co-operate with management in terms of Health & Safety
- To be the Competent Person for Medical Gases Pipeline Systems and Deputy Competent Responsible Person for Legionella Control
- The post holder will be required to participate in the on-call rota, and may be required to work shifts, nights, weekends and bank holidays
Skills and experience required
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent experience - Essential
- Experience of mechanical maintenance – Essential
- Relevant qualification and/or time served apprenticeship - Desirable
- Experience of decontamination periodic testing, CP for MGPS, Legionella Prevention and Control - Desirable
- Knowledge of Health & Safety practices including risk assessments and relevant training
- Demonstrable experience of good customer care skills
- Effective verbal communication
- Good organisational skills
- IT literate
- Strong customer- centred approach
- Methodical in approach and pays attention to detail
- Organised, flexible, adaptable, self-motivated
