We’re looking for a motivated Buyer to join our friendly and supportive procurement team of seven at Benenden Hospital. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Procurement, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our hospital runs smoothly by sourcing goods and services that balance the best quality and best value for money. Your work will directly contribute to delivering excellent patient care by making sure the right products and services are always available when needed.
You’ll be assisting the end-to-end procurement process, working closely with internal departments to deliver best value across the hospital. This role is ideal for someone in the early stages of their procurement or purchasing career, with commercial awareness and a desire to grow. If you're organised, proactive, and open to learning, we’ll support you every step of the way - including working towards a CIPS professional qualification funded by Benenden Hospital.

About the role
- Procure goods and services for the Hospital whilst adhering to all procedures, polices and industry good practice, achieving best value whilst ensuring quality is never compromised.
- Be responsible for managing end to end tender and quotation processes.
- Be responsible for ensuring the achievement of the savings target.
Skills and experience required
Essential:
- Excellent Customer Service and relationship management skills.
- Excellent IT skills – Including good understanding of Excel.
- Excellent analytical skills to support strategic purchasing decisions.
- Organised with the ability to prioritise and manage their own workload.
- Working towards CIPS or prepared to commence study, funded by Benenden Hospital.
- Ability to work in cross - functional teams.
- Self-motivated and with a positive attitude.
- Possess an attitude of continuous improvement.
Desirable:
- A background in Procurement or Purchasing, ideally in a commercial healthcare environment.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Ability to self-manage purchasing projects through to completion.
- Good stakeholder management skills and the ability to achieve “buy-in” from an early stage.
- The ability to undertake complex tasks under pressure in a challenging environment.
