I was educated at Cheshunt Grammar School and obtained my BSc in Statistics at University College London. I qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst and Young and left the profession while on secondment in Australia and entered the healthcare services sector with HCA who were acquiring private hospitals there.
My executive career has spanned many aspects of healthcare management including hospitals, care homes, staffing and medical imaging. I was CEO of Community Hospitals Group plc which owned and operated 21 private hospitals and Alliance Medical Ltd. Europe's largest medical imaging services group. Recently I have been Chairman of several healthcare businesses including Cancer Partners UK which provided cancer treatment services.
I have a long standing interest in education and am Chairman of the Governors of Haileybury and a Governor of two schools in Kazakhstan. I have been married to Jenny for 39 years and we have three sons. My other interests are in several sports, primarily cricket, hockey, squash and golf and I travel extensively.
